The Children's Commissioner for Waltham Forest is Ann Tennant. She was appointed by a joint interviewing panel of council officials, Young Advisors, and young representatives from the Childrens Rights service in May 2008.
Ann's role is to help young people in Waltham Forest understand, and most importantly, implement their rights. Her remit also includes challenging stereotypes and being an advocate to local politicians for young people. As a result of this, the I make a difference campaign was jointly launched by Young Advisors and Ann, after planning that took well over 4 months.
Ann is Deputy Head at Kelmscott school in Waltham Forest, and has long been a huge advocate of Young People.
