How do I apply?
Just fill out the online application form which can be found in the menu to the right!
How old do I have to be?
Ideally, we're looking for young people between the ages of 12 and 19 for each position. This can extend up to 21 for the YIAG and down to 11 for the Press Gang.
Do I have to live in Waltham Forest?
If you live, work, or go to school in Waltham Forest, you're eligable to apply.
What happens to the information I give in the application form?
All the information that you give us is saved and sent to the Youth Engagement Officer at Waltham Forest Council where it is then used to assess your eligibility for the positions. Service Monitoring information is not used to assess your eligibility. All information we hold is subject to the Data Protection Act.
Can I apply for more than one position?
Yes, you can. However, you should remember that each position requires a lot of time and commitment, so if you're unsure as to whether you can handle it or not, it's probably best to stick to one position. We also have a duty of care to any young people in full time education - we don't want to put pressure on school work or exams.
Will I get an interview?
If you are shortlisted, you will be informally interviewed by young people already on the groups between Monday 30th Auguest and Monday 20th September.
We will get in touch beforehand to let you know.
If you can't make the interview date, don't worry - we can be flexible.
There will be training and away days for all groups some time in mid September to bond and learn.
Will my travel expenses be covered?
We are able to reimburse reasonable travel costs, yes.
When do applications close?
Applications will close at 5pm on Friday 6th of August 2010.
Can I have a hard copy of the application form?
Yes - just get in touch with James Gould (details on contacts page)
When can I start?
If you are successful, you'll be starting your role at the end of September 2010!
