Young Advisors are young people who are trained and qualified to advise national and local government, charities and other non-government organisations on how to engage with young people. As a Young Advisor, you will be part of a national organisation and you'll get opportunities to work both locally on the issues that affect you, and also to work with the Goverment and the Young Advisors charity on wider issues.
You'll have two away weekends for training in September 2009, and then you'll receive a Level Two award and your official "Young Advisor" title! Here in the borough, you'll join a close and friendly team of like-minded young people who you'll be working with. The Young Advisors team in Waltham Forest is renowned as one of the best in London, and you'll get the experience of being part of a group that has achieved national recognition for its work.
This year, the group has registered hundreds of young people to vote, organised the cleaning up of a community space, worked with planning authorities, improved emotional health services for young people, trained market research companies and run a borough-wide award campaign for young people who make a difference - to name just a few of the things they've been up to.
Oh, and you'll be paid £8 an hour... which is always nice!
